Subject: 2005 RXCSF XC Ski Expo & Sale on 19-Nov-05

The NEW Rochester Cross Country Ski Foundation (RXCSF) will be conducting its’ 2005 Annual XC Ski Expo & Sale on November 19th starting at 9:00AM.  The event location is at the Honeoye Falls Lima Middle School located on Quaker Meetinghouse Road in Honeoye Falls, NY.  All current and prospective Cross Country Skiers are welcome!

The Expo & Sale has several components to serve the pre-season needs of Rochester-area cross country skiers:

The Expo & Sale admission is free.  A portion of the used sale proceeds go to benefit the Genesee Valley Bill Koch Youth Ski League to promote local youth skiing.  A portion of the new sale proceeds go to benefit RXCSF, a new organization dedicated to improving XC Ski trails, education and participation in the greater Rochester area.  For more information on RXCSF, please visit our website at www.xcrochester.com.


2005 RXCSF Ski Expo & Sale Itinerary:

7:30 – Doors open for vendor and volunteer set up

9:00 to 1:00 – Ski Sale & Ski Swap open to public

9:00 to 12:00 – RXCSF, RNSC & NYSSRA  info booths open for Q&A; membership sign-up

Programs:

 

10:00 to 10:30 – Discussion - "Preparing Equipment, Mind and Body for XC Ski Racing"               Target audience = Current and future XC Ski competitors of all ages and abilities

Leaders = Brian Lilly (WNY Biathlon) & Bob Witkowski (XCRochester Ski Racing Team)

 

10:00 to 10:30 – Presentation - "Rochester Nordic Ski Club Events, Outings and Trips"               Target audience = Adult XC Skiers of all abilities looking for adventure and group fun

Leaders = Mark Maas & Jackie Cannizzaro (RNSC)

 

10:45 to 11:15 - Participation Event - "Flexibility and Core Strength for XC Skiing

Target audience = XC Skiers of all ages and abilities

Leaders = Leah Valvo & Bob Witkowski (XCRochester)

 

11:00 to 11:30 – Presentation – “Introduction to Bill Koch Jr. Skiing for Parents & Volunteers”

Target audience = Current and new Bill Koch Parents and Volunteers

Leader = Jim Ellis (GVBKYSL)

 

11:15 to 11:45 - Participation Event - "Dryland Training for XC Ski Racing"

Target audience = Current and future XC Ski competitors of all ages and abilities

Leaders = Brian Lilly (WNY Biathlon) & Bob Witkowski (XCRochester)

Location = Outdoors weather permitting; running shoes & classic technique ski poles recommended

 

11:45 to 12:00 - Demonstration - "Roller Ski Skating Demo"

Target audience = Parents and future XC Ski competitors of all ages and abilities

Leaders = Brian Lilly (WNY Biathlon)

Location = Outdoors weather permitting

 

12:00 to 12:30 – Meeting - "RXCSF Membership Meeting; Bylaws & Leadership Approval Vote"               Participants = All charter members of the Rochester XC Ski Foundation

Leaders = Dr. Dave Valvo, Joe Ricci, Lee Mahood, Ruth Hayes & Bob Witkowski
